Being first synthetized in 1912, pentacene and its derivatives still gain a big interest as a result of both its crystals and thin films behaving as a p-type organic semiconductor which can be employed to manufacture electronic devices such as the organic field-effect transistor (OFET). This 35µm x 35µm AFM image reveals the topography of thin (10 nm) crystalline pentacene film on SiO2/Al2O3 substrate.
